Abilene Public Library attendance increases

The new Abilene Public Library location at Heritage Square on South First Street has received as many visitors in its first six weeks as it had in one full year at the old location from 2024 to 2025.

Jay Moore, Abilene’s un-official historian, who now offices at Heritage Square, has reported the increase on his regular “Hometown History” essay.

Moore also said the number of library cards issued from the Heritage Square locale has reached 70% as many had it had in all of last year’s total.

Entrance to the new Abilene Public Library is on the west side of the Heritage Square building that faces Vine Street off South First.

Additionally, the Grace Museum’s new Spark Science Center, which can be reached on the South Third Street entrance, has had a total of over 11,500 visitors with science volunteers spending almost 400 hours guiding mostly young people through the enchanting, interactive exhibits.
