Robert Wayne ‘Duke’ Marshall — May 10, 1970 – December 26, 2025
Robert “Duke” Wayne Marshall, 55, passed away on Dec. 26, 2025. He was born on May 10, 1970, in Pecos, Texas, to the late Don Marshall and Judy Wickson Marshall.

Duke is survived by his beloved wife, Shannon Marshall; his daughter, Katelyn Myers and her husband, Jacob Myers; his daughter Kyleigh Marshall and her fiancé Jake Pruett; and his cherished grandchildren Elijah, Riyah, Olive, and Reese Myers, who brought him immense pride and joy. He was also deeply loved and cherished by all of his Marshall, Martin, Lafoy, and Wickson family members.
Duke was dependable, calm, and a steady presence for those who loved him. Raised in Kermit, he was someone his family could always count on in both difficult and joyful moments. He was a rock for those closest to him, offering quiet strength, consistency, and care. He took deep pride in his roles as husband, father, and grandfather, and his devotion to his family.
Duke was an alumnus of McMurry University and Hardin-Simmons University. He remained actively involved as a dedicated and engaged alumnus throughout his life. He was also a proud member of the Kiwanis Club, where he valued service, fellowship, and giving back to his community. In recognition of his leadership and commitment to service, Duke was honored to serve as an Honorary Commander at Dyess Air Force Base, a role he held with great pride and respect for those who serve.
Duke dedicated more than 24 years of his career to Cal Farley’s, serving at both Girls Town and Boys Ranch, where his work focused on caring for children and supporting families in need. His career reflected a lifelong commitment to service and compassion, especially for those facing difficult circumstances. Through decades of nonprofit service, and most recently as CEO of Disability Resources, Duke made a lasting impact on countless lives.
Duke’s legacy lives on through his family and the many people whose lives he touched through his work and kindness. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. The family asks for continued prayers, grace, and understanding as they navigate this profound loss.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Duke’s memory to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch or to Alzheimer’s research, in honor of the causes that reflected his life’s work and values.
Arrangements were with Girdner Funeral Home in Abilene, Texas. Visitation with the family was from 5 to 7pm Monday Dec. 29, 2025, at Girdner Funeral Home in Abilene. A memorial service was 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, at Wylie Methodist Church in Abilene with Pastor Jeff Hatcher officiating.
