Pushing toward the next step

With the ending of the school year and then in the season of graduation, emotions are always at a high. Many graduates cry or get emotional due to the fact that they are moving away, or they will miss their friends and the life that they had while they were in high school.

Many though, get emotional due to the fact that the road to get there wasn’t easy and being able to stand in that cap and gown means more than any of us could have imagined.

As an underclassman watching this process and then finding myself being an upperclassman, it truly surprises me. Each semester tests not only your skill and ability to do work, but leads to smoother transitions and more acceptance in different spaces.

People often say these four years of motivation and work make it easier for you to push yourself. Making connections with students older than me has meant a lot, but seeing that it doesn’t only stop after the four years is inspiring. Watching others graduate make me realize that graduation isn’t a loss, but a push to the next step.
