Building on the foundation in the new year

As the new year comes around, like it always does, we hear sayings like, “new year new me” or “this is my year.” But what if we took a different approach when approaching the new year? I think sayings like this put way too much pressure on the individual self and is way too broad of a goal to be trackable.
My goal for this new year is not to become a brand-new version of myself or even to reach some unattainable goal but to just grow on the foundation that I have already planted for myself.
As not only a teenager, but as a teenage girl, I feel as if I never have a stable mindset; everything changes day by day. I want to realize the few things that I have control over and expand. For example, my extracurriculars: last year in powerlifting, I ended my year off with a 270 squat max; this year, I hope to get that weight by regionals and go to state this year. This is in my control. I also want to get my car in 2025. I don’t know what time of the year, but I hope that I can reach it. I just have to put the work in and save.
All in all, this new year, I have come to the conclusion that I don’t need to totally change but to do better.
