The Abilene Independent School District (AISD) Board of Trustees met on Nov. 4, 2024, to address upcoming policy changes, financial updates, and celebrate student and staff achievements.

Workshop Highlights

Discussions centered on a proposed shift from a 6-week to a 9-week grading period. This adjustment, presented by district leaders, aims to balance academic and extracurricular demands. The district is gathering feedback from principals, with potential implementation in 2025-26.

Superintendent Updates

Dr. John Kuhn praised Taylor Elementary for meeting a student’s special dietary needs and introduced a new Teaching Minute video showcasing innovative math instruction by Dyess Elementary’s Tyci Western.

  • State Cross Country Competitors: Abilene High’s athletes were recognized, including Senior John Alcantar.
