McMurry Chanters

Hi All. Just a quick reminder about this concert tonight at 7. The McMurry Chanters will join with First United Methodist Eastland, and St. James and Aldersgate UMCs in Abilene for this performance. Here are some photos from the practice.

The McMurry University Chanters will be presenting the Mozart Requiem on Thursday, April 14, at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. This performance is an invitational, in which choir members of St. James, Aldersgate, St. Paul and First United Methodist Church of Eastland, Texas, have been invited to join the Chanters. One of the great choral/orchestral works of the literature, the Requiem will feature instrumentalists from McMurry as well as from the greater Abilene area.
Soloists for the Mozart will be McMurry vocalists Dr. Elizabeth Moss, soprano, and Dr. Christina Wilson, contralto. Dr. Greg Church, tenor, is an associate professor at Howard Payne University, and Dr. Scott LaGraff, bass, is professor of voice at Stephen F. Austin University. They will be singing numerous movements written for a solo quartet. Dr. LaGraff will also be presenting a Masterclass with several McMurry singers on Thursday, April 14 from 10:30–12 p.m. in the Recital Hall. An active soloist, Dr. LaGraff has appeared with numerous symphonies and choral societies, and has performed at Carnegie Hall. He will shortly be releasing his second cd with Centaur Records. The masterclass is free and open to the public.
