McMurry Professor Publishes Article

By Gary Ellison, Associate Director CommunicationsMcMurry University Professor of Biology Dr. Anna Saghatelyan has published a paper titled “Phytogeographical relationships and analysis of the flora of South Central Texas, U.S.A.” in new issue of the Journal of the Botanical Research Institute of Texas. This is a taxonomic and biogeographic analysis of the flora of the elevated part of the Texas Hill Country . The flora includes 1618 native species which were classified to 24 geographical elements based on the species ranges. All the spectra of the flora were also compared with those of the flora of the Big Bend Region, Texas , published in a paper “A classification of geographic elements and analysis of the flora of Big Bend Region, Texas” in 2009. These two floras represent two different floristic regions and have complex but different patterns of connections.
