Stop Landfilling Your Home. Choose Life Recycling

Trash piled on top of another spilling over intoother rooms. Walk pathways buried under yesterday’s hottest trend or fashionitems, never to be recovered again. Is this how you live your life, in yourhome? You have that special room that is a catch all for unwanted or outdateditems in your house. You know that room, the one whose doors is always shut, unable to see the light of day, forever locked away in the forgottenstratosphere of your thoughts. If this describes you, you are landfilling yourhome. The purpose of this article is not to inspire youto clean your home, although if you have trash spilling over to other rooms youmay want to consider it. The purpose of this article is to suggest the idea ofrecycling in your world. When I mentioned your home above, I was referring toyour home living on planet earth. The idea of the room being shut and unable tosee the light of day, I was talking about how we as a community have becomeinsensitive, unconsciously and consciously in a way, to our waste disposalmentality. {{more}} As the Steward of Presidency of Choose LifeRecycling, a Christ centered non-profit recycling company that specializes inelectronics in West Texas; I strive to share the message of recycling witheveryone by connecting values of faith in Christ with the idea of recycling. Weare so blessed as a people in our western civilization when it comes to food, shelter, careers, family and money, that we sometimes become desensitized toour responsibility to each other. God has called us to be stewards over thethings which he has given to us. A steward is a man or a woman that can befound faithful over the things which they are given . Whenwe have the mindset that we are stewards over our families, possessions andeven our waste, it changes our perspectives on life. Landfills are a space of land used to bury unwantedor discarded waste and is one of the oldest waste management methods know tomankind. The idea of a landfill is simple. You take items that are forgotten, broken and undesired and discard of them, serving as a final resting place formany items and helping you to declutter yourlife. The problem with landfilling your home is that you do not takeresponsibility for your own trash. It is true that it is much easier to compileour unwanted items into a catch all mentality where we cut off all sense ofresponsibility for the trash that we have created. But that paradigm is selfish, and franklyunfair, to our loved ones, neighbors, friends, children and future generations, that are depending on us to protect and steward our environments by which weall have to live in. Recycling is an even more simplistic approach towaste management than to landfills in that with recycling, we take ownership of our waste and properly dispose of it for thepurpose of eliminating the disposal of valuable materials and preserving theenergy and money it takes to make new ones. The idea of recycling is truly a “green” idea not just for theenvironment but also for your pockets. Think about it, the more resources wehave to use the less we would have to pay for those same resources because theywill be in abundance and not in lack. The Bible says that the Earth is theLord’s and the fullness thereof so if we lavish from all that theEarth gives us, we should be so thankful enough to preserve it by replenishingit.
