Seasonal Influenza vaccine now available at Health District’s routine immunization clinics
ABILENE, Texas –The Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District will now provide Seasonal Influenza vaccinations at its routine immunization clinics each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. This vaccine will be offered until approximately the end of flu season which can last until the end of April. No appointment is needed. The influenza and pneumonia vaccines will be available as well as all other vaccines normally given during the clinics.{{more}}Seasonal Influenza vaccinations are $15 each and pneumonia vaccinations are $55 each. When both vaccinations are given at the same time, the cost is $60. Children, ages 6 months to 18 years, who meet Texas Department of State Health Services eligibility for the Vaccine for Children program will be charged $8 for the Seasonal Influenza vaccination. Current Medicare, Medicaid and CHIP identification cards will be accepted for payment. Cash and checks are accepted. Third party insurance, credit and debit cards are not accepted.The Seasonal Influenza vaccine available at these clinics is effective for the 3 Seasonal Influenza strains most likely to be circulating this flu season including the Novel 2009 H1N1 or Swine flu virus which circulated in 2009.
